Garden Offices, London. Garden Retreat was approached by ISG, the main contractor who had won the contract to develop the first phase of a £300 million scheme to build a world-leading neurology centre in the middle of London for University College London (UCL) As part of the project there were some enabling works required to allow the project to proceed which was to demolish a Portacabin adjacent to the site Calthorpe Community Gardens, inner city charity supporting local residents in a range of different ways and for various needs
As compensation ISG worked with Calthorpe Community Gardens to provide them with a brand new timber framed cabin to provide support, training and provide an opportunity to rent out the building for corporate events and a meeting room to generate income further support the charity and its future.
Garden Retreat were engaged to work with a nominated architect who was employed on behalf of Calthorpe Community Gardens and we came up with the following building.
THE BUILD

This particular building is based on a 100mm x 38mm framework with a ply lining, breathable felt and tanalised external cladding. With heavy duty roof timbers and a metal roof we set to work ensuring the building was heavily insulated enabling comfortable all year round use. Once insulated and the first fix electrics were installed we plaster boarded the walls and ceiling, finished plastered and then installed the heating, spot lights and USB sockets.
This particular building has Meranti hardwood double glazed doors and windows ensuring long lasting and a maintenance free product standing the test of time long into the future. Once the build was completed the building was professionally painted inside and out and all who were involved are extremely happy with the finished project.
